Durham Light Festival & Hike in Yorkshire Dales

This weekend was full of amazing sights and exhausting activity. Throughout the last few days, I’ve done an awful lot of walking. On Friday evening, I walked all around the city of Durham to take in the wonders of Enlightenment: The Durham International Light Festival. Today, I went with a group of other guys from Christchurch Durham on a hike in Wharfedale, Yorkshire.

The light festival was actually quite good, featuring four major light-based artworks, each located on one of the main walking bridges of Durham. It was rather tough walking along the river in total darkness, but eventually I would turn a corner and be presented with very artistic light sculptures. I took a lot of photos, and learned how to use my camera’s ISO settings to get better low-light photos. I have created a photo set on Flickr.

In regards to the hike, I was not prepared! I was so out of shape that I could not make it the whole way, which was about 10 miles. After suffering my way all the way up the giant hill that always seemed to present new heights, I finally had to turn around. In total, I think my hike was about 4 miles. On my way back to the village, I took a bunch of photos, and ended up waiting for the others in a local pub. Hopefully I can soon work my way up to being able to stay with the others! Some of these photos are available in a photo set on Flickr.
